Intro

What I am all about.

I graduated from UC Berkeley's College of Engineering last May, majoring in Materials Science and Engineering, and studying Data Science and Human Centered Design. I've also completed the SCET Certificate in Entrepanuership and Technology as well as the Berkeley Certificate for Design Innovations.

While at Cal, I took on a bunch of interesting projects. I built a music-sharing app called RapBits, growing it to thousands of users. I co-founded an energy startup for small and medium enterprises in Egypt, working on solving a critical energy need. And I really enjoyed working on and leading large teams: I was project manager of CalSol , leading the team to our first 1st place finish in our clubs 27-year history, as well as a project manager on THiMBY, assisting in building a trailer-sized home from the ground up!
I am currently a PM at Tarjimly, an on-demand translator service geared towards refugees, working on our first stand-alone product launch in January.

Really, I just like finding (making?) problems and building things

Experience

Yes. I've been around.
September 2018 – Present

Tarjimly

Product Manager

Mountain View, CA

Analyzed aid worker database using SQL to understand user retention patterns and needs. Developed high-impact case studies to highlight certain use cases.
Developed aidwork centered feature roadmap.
Interviewed and surveyed aid workers (lawyers, doctors, translators, case workers). Determined organizational translational needs and optimal price point for translation services and created shortlist of organizations to target for Tarjimly services.

January 2018 – April 2018

Bolt Threads

Special Projects Team

Emeryville, CA

Initiated creative resource utilization to create revenue from waste material, resulting in Bolt’s first profitable skincare product. Defined, planned, and executed various extended cross team/department experiments to develop understanding of key variables/factors
Created development strategy for new fiber spinning technology (patent pending) for formulating synthetic silk fibers
Developed standardized protocol for material discovery & characterization based directly on customer needs and product requirements.
Optimized exploratory experiments to utilize 90% less starting resources, with comparable results, in 50% less time

June 2017 – August 2017

Emerson Collective

VC Investment Intern

Palo Alto, CA

Conducted in-depth qualitative & quantitative research and analysis of market landscapes, competitive dynamics, partnerships, policy reviews, presenting recommendations that shaped strategy and investment decisions.
Assisted in investment processes of companies Series A – Series D, including sourcing, research, modeling, documentation and post-investment support of partner orgs & companies

September 2014 – September 2017

CalSol

Project Manager, Build Lead.

Berkeley, CA

Managed accelerated summer build organizing resource procurement, and engineering timeline, resulting in car racing and completing 2000-mile race. Made critical build decisions to optimize and balance schedule and expenditure. Result: 1st Place in FSGP 2017
Alter team culture to increase communication and sense of community after analysis of team dynamics, resulting in greater trust and efficiency on team, as well as development of new members to positions of leadership.

2015 – 2017

THIMBY

Project Manager

Berkeley, CA

Managed development of electrical system, including heating, AC, lighting, solar panels, and battery storage system.
Designed & built an optimization system utilizing ambient air temp, preferred temp, home battery state of charge, and solar input.
Developed timeline, as well as resource procurement and team member allocation for research, design reviews, and installation.

2015 – 2016

The Yao Group

Researcher

Berkeley, CA

Designed, fabricated and characterized novel optical materials and explored their applications in various areas including nanophotonics, plasmonics, optoelectronics, with a focus on the growth of 2D materials.
Utilized CVD systems to grow over 250 zinc oxide optical semiconductors, analyzing using SEM and FIB.

June 2012 – August 2012

The Sipahi Group

Researcher

Berkeley, CA

Modeled and prototyped Smart Grid systems, working on energy generation/distribution/storage and renewable resources.
Built a feedback control system to control light exposure in a room, programming an Arduino microcontroller depending on the amount of light as measured by a photovoltaic sensor. Constantly iterated based on constructive dialogue with advisors and users.
